Timeline

The Timeline in ACT 3 AI is the central sequencing tool that organizes your Scenes, Shots, B-Roll, and audio into a structured video project. It provides a visual timeline similar to traditional video editing software but enhanced with AI-powered features for faster scene assembly and preview generation.

Key Features

  • Drag-and-Drop Editing: Place Scenes, Shots, and assets directly onto the timeline.
  • Multi-Track Support: Arrange video, audio, and overlay elements across multiple synchronized tracks.
  • Zoom and Scrub: Zoom in for frame-level accuracy or zoom out for a full project overview.
  • Block Sequencing: Scenes and shots appear as blocks that can be reordered, trimmed, or extended.
  • AI-Assisted Sequencing: Generate suggested orders for shots based on your script or story arc.
  • Real-Time Preview: Play back any portion of the timeline without leaving the Editor.

How to Use

  1. Open the Editor Workspace and select the Timeline View.
  2. Drag Shots or Scenes from the script editor or Asset Library into the timeline.
  3. Arrange and trim clips using the handles on each block.
  4. Add B-Roll or Audio Assets (music, dialogue, effects) onto their tracks.
  5. Press **Play** to preview the selected section in real-time.

Example Workflow

Tips

  • Use color-coded blocks to distinguish Scenes, B-roll, and audio layers.
  • Group related shots together for easier navigation.
  • For rapid prototyping, rely on low-res preview renders before committing credits to high-quality exports.
