Overview

The Character Editor in ACT 3 AI is the workspace where you create, customize, and manage characters for your projects. It allows writers and directors to define traits, personalities, and visual attributes, ensuring that characters remain consistent across scenes, shots, and entire productions.

The Character Editor bridges the gap between the creative side of AI Writing and the performance layer of Digital Actors.

Key Capabilities

  • Profile Creation: Define character names, roles, and narrative importance.
  • Traits & Attributes: Add details such as age, gender, ethnicity, occupation, and backstory.
  • Personality & Motivation: Specify emotional tone, core drives, and dramatic arcs.
  • Appearance Preview: Visualize initial looks before assigning a Digital Actor.
  • Voice & Style: Link voice presets or AI dubbing for dialogue consistency.
  • Reuse & Sharing: Store characters in the Actor Library for use across projects.

  2. Navigate to the **Character Editor** from the sidebar or script view.
  3. Click **New Character** to create a profile.

Integration with Workflow

Best Practices

  • Define character motivations early to guide story beats.
  • Use consistent naming to avoid mismatches in script formatting.
  • Keep multiple versions (young/older, alternate wardrobe) saved under one profile.
  • Assign placeholder actors until casting is finalized.

Troubleshooting

  • Character not showing in script editor → Check name formatting in profile.
  • Missing from Actor Library → Save character after editing.
  • Wrong actor linked → Reassign via the Cast Manager.
