Version Control

Overview

Version Control in ACT 3 AI allows creators and teams to manage multiple iterations of a project without losing previous work. It is designed to help track changes, compare edits, and revert to earlier versions — ensuring creative flexibility and production safety.

Key Benefits

1. Safely experiment with creative changes without overwriting original work. 2. Compare different versions side-by-side to evaluate edits. 3. Maintain a complete history of project changes for accountability. 4. Collaborate more effectively by keeping team edits organized. 5. Restore previous versions instantly if an edit does not work out.

Workflow for Version Control

1. **Open Your Project**

Access the project you wish to manage in the Editor.

2. **Create a New Version**

Select **Save Version** to store the current state of your project.
  * Assign a version name (e.g., “Trailer Edit – V2”).
  * Add optional notes describing changes.

3. **Branch a Version**

Duplicate a version to create an alternate creative path without affecting the main timeline.

4. **Compare Versions**

Use the side-by-side preview to evaluate changes in visuals, timing, and audio.

5. **Revert to a Previous Version**

Restore any saved version to make it the active project state.

6. **Collaborate with Teams**

Share specific versions with collaborators for review, feedback, or approval.

7. **Archive Older Versions**

Move inactive versions to archive storage to keep the workspace clean while retaining access.

Integration with ACT 3 AI Tools

1. Works with Movies, Marketing Videos, and Social Media Videos workflows. 2. Preserves associated assets, including Digital Actors, Sets, and AI Cinematography settings. 3. Integrates with Build & Export to store both project data and rendered outputs.

Best Practices

1. Save versions before making significant changes to scripts, scenes, or style settings. 2. Use clear and descriptive version names for easy identification. 3. Keep backup copies of critical versions offline for long-term storage. 4. For collaborative work, lock approved versions to prevent accidental changes.
