Export Script

Overview

The Export Script feature in ACT 3 AI lets you save and share your project’s screenplay in professional or portable formats. It preserves the full structure — including acts, scenes, shots, beats, and annotations — so you can collaborate with external teams, import into editing suites, or archive your work.

Where to Find It

Export Options

When exporting, you can choose to include:

  • Scene Numbers – retain or re-number scenes for production drafts.
  • Acts & Beats – include act headings and beat markers.
  • Annotations & Comments – export internal annotations from collaborators.
  • Character Lists – attach a full character breakdown with digital actor mapping.
  • Shot Details – include shot prompts, camera notes, and blocking diagrams.

How to Use

  1. Open your project in the Editor.
  2. Go to **File → Export → Script** or select from the Build Video summary.
  3. Pick your desired format: Final Draft, Fountain, Markdown Support, PDF Export, or Plain Text.
  4. Choose export options (scene numbers, annotations, beats, etc.).
  5. Click Export to download the file or send it directly to linked drives (see Integrations).

Best Practices

  • Use Script Editor to ensure clean formatting before exporting.
  • Lock scenes in Timeline to prevent changes after final draft creation.
  • For collaboration with film crews, export in FDX with character list and shot notes.
  • When publishing online, use PDF Export for consistent styling across devices.

Integration Tips

  • Export FDX to collaborate with screenwriters in Final Draft or Celtx.
  • Use Fountain for version control in Git or markdown-based workflows.
  • Send Markdown or Plain Text to AI Wizard for future re-generation or adaptation.

Troubleshooting

  • Missing formatting → Ensure script formatting follows industry scene heading and dialogue standards.
  • Characters not recognized → Check character names are uppercase in the script.
  • Beats not showing → Enable “Include Beats” during export.
  • Annotations missing → Tick “Export Annotations” in the options menu.

Credits & Storage

  • Exporting text formats is free.
  • PDF and enhanced exports may use minimal credits if they require AI formatting cleanup.

Privacy & Rights

  • Exported scripts contain only the project text — no video assets.
  • Ensure you have rights to all material before sending to third parties; see Documentation → Legal/Usage.
