2D & 3D Sets
2D & 3D Sets
Overview
In ACT 3 AI, **2D & 3D Sets** are virtual environments where your story unfolds. They can be AI-generated, built in external design tools, or imported from 3D asset libraries. 2D sets are primarily static background plates or illustrated environments, while 3D sets are fully navigable spaces with depth, perspective, and interactive lighting.
Key Benefits
1. Create immersive scenes without physical location scouting or set construction. 2. Choose between 2D or 3D formats depending on project needs and production time. 3. Integrate sets seamlessly with Digital Actors, AI cinematography, and visual effects. 4. Reuse and modify sets across multiple projects to save time and maintain continuity. 5. Combine AI generation with imported assets for a hybrid design workflow.
2D vs 3D Sets
1. **2D Sets:**
* Flat backgrounds or illustrated scenes. * Ideal for stylized animations, storyboards, or cost-effective production. * Faster to render and suitable for social media or quick marketing videos.
2. **3D Sets:**
* Fully modeled, textured, and lit environments. * Allow for dynamic camera movement, depth of field, and real-time lighting changes. * Suitable for cinematic productions, VR experiences, and high-end marketing content.
Workflow for Creating 2D & 3D Sets
1. **Access the Sets Panel**
Open the Sets section within the Editor.
2. **Choose Set Type**
Select either: * AI-Generated 2D Illustration or Photo Background. * AI-Generated 3D Environment. * Imported Asset (FBX, GLB, Blender file, or PNG/JPEG for 2D).
3. **Customize Set Design**
* For 2D Sets: Adjust style, color grading, and composition. * For 3D Sets: Modify geometry, materials, props, and environmental details.
4. **Apply Lighting & Atmosphere**
* 2D: Overlay lighting effects, gradients, or mood filters. * 3D: Place dynamic lights, adjust time-of-day, and add environmental effects (fog, reflections, volumetrics).
5. **Position Camera & Actors**
Block shots for 3D sets with full spatial movement. Align actors in 2D sets for perspective consistency.
6. **Preview & Refine**
Render a test preview to check composition, lighting, and performance integration.
7. **Save as a Reusable Asset**
Store the set in your personal or organizational library for future use.
Integration with ACT 3 AI Production Tools
1. **Cinematography:** Works with AI Cinematography for accurate framing and depth. 2. **Motion Capture:** Aligns MoCap performances within 3D space or 2D composition. 3. **Style Presets:** Apply consistent visual themes across multiple sets.
Export & Import Options
1. **Export Formats:** FBX, GLB, USD for 3D; PNG, JPEG for 2D. 2. **Import Formats:** FBX, GLB, OBJ, USD, PNG, JPEG. 3. **Marketplace:** Buy or sell 2D and 3D sets in the ACT 3 AI asset marketplace (future feature).
Best Practices
1. Use 2D sets for quick-turnaround projects and 3D sets for high-production-value content. 2. Keep 3D geometry optimized for faster rendering. 3. Maintain consistent scale for actors, props, and set elements. 4. Test lighting on multiple camera angles before finalizing.
