Overview

The Export Script feature lets you take the screenplay you’ve built or edited in ACT 3 AI and save it as industry‑standard files. Use it to share drafts with collaborators, import into other tools, or prepare for production.

Supported Formats

  • **Final Draft (.fdx)** – Fully formatted for professional screenwriting software.
  • **Celtx (.ctsx)** – Compatible with the Celtx pre‑production suite.
  • **Fade In (.fpi)** – Ready for use in Fade In script editor.
  • **Fountain (.fountain)** – Plain‑text screenplay format for easy version control.
  • **PDF (.pdf)** – Paginated, print‑ready version with scene numbering.
  • **Plain Text (.txt)** – Unformatted text dump, suitable for quick notes or analysis.

How to Export

  1. Open your script in the Editor and confirm you’re viewing the desired version.
  2. Click the **Export** icon in the toolbar (or choose **File → Export Script**).
  3. In the dialog, select your desired output format from the dropdown list.
  4. Adjust export options (e.g., include version watermark, choose page size for PDF).
  5. Click **Download** to save the file to your computer, or **Send to** to share via integrated cloud or email services.

Export Options

  • **Watermark & Draft Stamp** – Toggle on/off a “Draft” or date watermark.
  • **Page Setup** – Choose page size (US Letter, A4) and margins when exporting PDF.
  • **Metadata Inclusion** – Optionally embed project title, author name, and version number.
  • **Character Breakdown** – Include a character appearance report at the end of the document.

Integration with Workflow

  • **Version Control** – Each export can be tagged as a new version in the project history for comparison.
  • **Collaboration** – Share exported files with writers, producers, or talent using the built‑in email or cloud links.
  • **Production Prep** – Use exported PDFs to send to production teams, storyboard artists, and vendors.

Tips & Troubleshooting

  • For best compatibility, export to .fdx when sharing with other screenwriting applications.
  • Use Fountain or plain text for script diffing and version control in Git.
  • If PDF pagination doesn’t match expectations, adjust margins in the Page Setup before exporting.
  • Re-export anytime you make script edits—exports do not update automatically after the initial download.
