Overview

The Export Script feature in ACT 3 AI allows you to take your written or AI-assisted scripts and export them into industry-standard formats. This makes it easy to continue work in professional screenwriting tools, share drafts with collaborators, or archive project scripts outside the platform.

Supported Formats

  • Final Draft (.fdx): Industry standard for professional screenwriters.
  • PDF (.pdf): Shareable read-only version for pitches, reviews, or archival.
  • Text (.txt): Lightweight text export for quick notes or external editing.
  • Markdown (.md): Flexible format for technical pipelines or developer integration.

How to Export

  1. Open your project in the Editor.
  2. Navigate to **File → Export Script**.
  3. Select your preferred export format (FDX, PDF, TXT, MD).
  4. Choose whether to export the full script, selected scenes, or Acts → Scenes → Shots only.
  5. Click **Export**, and your file will be generated.

Integration

Best Practices

  • Use **FDX export** if you need to collaborate with external writers or production teams.
  • Export to **PDF** when sending drafts for review to investors or stakeholders.
  • For simple idea sharing, **TXT/MD export** is often fastest.
  • Always keep a local copy of exported scripts for backup.

Example Workflow

Step Action Tool
1 Write or import your script Script Editor, Import Script
2 Refine scenes with visuals and assets Editor, Timeline & Storyboard
3 Generate a production draft AI Wizard, AI Task Assembly
4 Export to Final Draft or PDF Export Script

Troubleshooting

  • If formatting appears broken, use the **FDX export** instead of TXT.
  • Ensure you have enough credits if exporting directly from AI-expanded scripts.
  • Some metadata (camera directions, B-roll notes) may not carry over into non-FDX formats.
